Cleaning Solutions

All Branson Sonifier® units are covered by the Branson Worldwide 2 Year guarantee.

Sonifier®, originally established as the benchmark product in cell disruption, has become a liquid processing workhorse in the laboratory.

Other diverse applications include:

  • Emulsification of immiscible liquids
  • Disintegration and dispersion
  • Homogenization
  • High intensity cleaning
  • Acceleration of reactions
  • Cell Lysing
  • Comminution
  • Leaching and extraction
  • Degassing liquids

Each Sonifier® product consists of a power supply, converter and mechanically tuned processing tool (horn).

The power supply converts 50-60 Hz line voltage to high frequency electrical energy at 20,000 hertz. The converter changes this high frequency electrical signal to a high frequency  mechanical vibration. This vibration is coupled into a tool or horn to produce the desired results in a solution.

Standard Sonifier® units are available from 100 watts to 4000 watts for matching the equipment to your application. Static samples from 0.1 ml to 500 ml are routinely processed. Sonifier® products are also used to process liquids inline on either a cyclical or single pass basis.

A wide variety of specialized tools, tips, chambers and accessories are available to accomplish specific effects. In addition to many standard disruption horn sizes, Branson offers flow-through tools, high intensity cup horns, biohazard processing cells, sound reduction enclosures, and much more.

Sonifiers® are just one of the ultrasonic liquid processing products produced by Branson. Contact us for information on other, higher volume processing systems.

The new Branson Sonifier® SLPe-150D offers capabilities not available in others. This unit is capable of processing 90% of today's laboratory requirements. Sample sizes from as low as 0.1 ml to 100 ml can be effectively processed. The digital controls allow easy parameter entry, in-process monitoring of process data, and access to key data at the end of an experiment. Software excludes inappropriate data entry and sounds an alarm, if the process moves outside set limits. This disruptor series will permit the traditional management of experiments and processes using time (1 second to 99 hours) and amplitude as primary variables.

The SLPe Energy Mode Sonifier® includes the ability to control set parameters through the newer "total energy" approach (1 to 10,000 joules), offering advantages in process thermal management. Sonifier® includes a large digital display; continuous or pulsed operation; and can manage total experiment time; with local or remote (p/c) control capability; and built-in tuning. Includes the generator/power supply, converter, 1/8" microtip, all interconnects, and an I/O port for external control. The SLP unit comes complete and ready to run.

  • Digital parameter entry for precise, easy setup.
  • Digital amplitude control allows for critical applications
(ranges from 10% to 100% in 1% increments).
  • Built-in auto tuning for optimum control in any application.
  • Continuous or pulsed operation.
  • LED readout displays parameter settings during setup and
operation for easy reference and monitoring.
Cycle parameters provides storage of last-used cycle
parameters even if the system is shut off or a power interruption occurs.
  • Overall experiment timer.
  • Local or remote (plc) control capability.
  • Supplied tooling ideal for Eppendorf or Falcon style vessels.
  • Meets CE standards.

Branson Sonifier® analogue products use traditional analogue technology to produce the same reliable results you have achieved from Branson for over 50 years.  Automatic amplitude at different energy levels encountered during sample processing.  The broad band tuning feature precisely adjusts the 20 khz output frequency to optimum levels even when process tooling is changed.

The analogue control package includes:
*  Adjustable output power to meet the needs of each application.
*  Energy pulsing to minimize heating of sensitive samples
*  Mechanical timer to limit process time while freeing the operator
*  An output meter to monitor process power and provide for repeatability

All of these features are housed in a rugged, compact package with slanted front control panel for clear visibility and easy access.  All units are supplied as an operational package including power supply, converter and standard disruptor horn.

Branson Sonifier® digital products take advantage of the new digital technology.  This is particularly useful where precise process control and parameter measurement are required.  Like analogue units, they operate at a fundamental frequency of 20 kHz, include automatic amplitude control, autotune and include enhanced features like:

*  Multiple mode operation; continuous, pulsed, timed, temperature end-point
*  Setup menus in five languages
*  Digital parameter settings with automatic range validity auditing
*  Automatic end-of-cycle shutoff using limit parameters
*  Self diagnostics in start up
*  Twenty user-programmed presets for convenience

All units have digital controls, including a membrane switch for easy data entry, 10 hour timer, digital wattmeter, 80 character LCD display to monitor parameters and much more.  The parallel printer interface and RS-232C serial computer interface add even more utility. All units are supplied as an operational package including power supply, converter and standard horn.

Static processing of higher liquid volumes or processing liquids in a continuous stream generally requires greater ultrasonic power output to maintain appropriate power density per unit volume per unit time.  Branson offers several types of systems to meet these higher volume applications.
The Sonifier® 2000BDC at 1100 to 4000 watts can process up to 10 GPM per processing cell.  This 20kHz system passes process fluid through a confined chamber in close proximity to a high energy ultrasonic horn.
